PHOENIX — A 3-year-old boy was in stable condition Sunday after he was shot in Phoenix, police said.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the boy’s mother brought him to a hospital around 7 a.m. Saturday.
He had a gunshot wound to his shoulder and was in critical condition.
Thompson said the shooting was believed to have been an accident, but police were investigating the family’s apartment near Dunlap and 35th avenues to try to find out what happened.
Police said Sunday that they are looking for Christopher Vanhaller, 26, who they believe was present when the shooting occurred.
Vanhaller is an investigative lead, police said, and not a suspect at this time.
Thompson asked anyone with information about Vanhaller’s whereabouts or this incident to contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
