PHOENIX — Wet ‘n’ Wild, a sprawling water park in the Phoenix area, will soon be given a new name: Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Phoenix.

Officials with the largest water park in the state announced Monday that the rebranding would kick off when it opens its doors on March 16 for the 2019 season.

“Six Flags is a world-renowned leader in thrills and innovation and we are excited to add the Six Flags Hurricane Harbor name to our park,” General Manager Donald Spiller said in a statement.

But the Glendale park will get much more than just a new name: Some of the upgrades included a new “Caribbean-inspired” marquee, newly renovated dining and retail areas and new paint and signage for many of the rides and attractions.

“Six Flags is investing in new theming and many other park enhancements to offer guests a bigger, better, wetter, island-getaway experience,” Spiller said.

The Texas-based amusement park corporation purchased the leasing rights to the 35-acre water attraction last year.

The park features more than 30 slides, rides and attractions, including North America’s first gravity-defying dueling water coaster.

It will be open for weekends in March, April and May, but will open for daily operation on May 18.

Members and season pass holders can get a sneak peek of the park on March 9 and 10.

We want to hear from you.
