PHOENIX – Dave Chappelle, fresh off another Grammy win for best comedy album, will be playing two shows just outside Phoenix in April, it was announced.
Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino near Maricopa, Arizona, posted the event on its Facebook page Monday.
Tickets for the 18 and older shows scheduled April 5-6 were to go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m. Arizona time. Tickets were limited to four per customer.
Presales for Ticketmaster account members and Caesar’s Rewards were to begin Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Showtimes were set at 8 p.m.
The 45-year-old’s comedy spotlights racism, politics, social issues, current events and relationships.
Chappelle’s latest album, “Equanimity & The Bird Revelation” followed his best-comedy album Grammy win in 2018 for “The Age of Spin & Deep in the Heart of Texas.”
The stand-up comic, writer and actor is also a double Emmy winner: He picked up one in 2018 for his Netflix special, “Equanimity” and one in 2017 for best actor in a comedy series for a hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live.”
The Washington, D.C. native stepped away from full-time stand-up shows from 2005 to 2013, after a successful run on cable television with “Chappelle’s Show.”
But he would make unannounced appearances at comedy clubs from time to time and by 2014 he was making guest appearances on talk shows, according to Wikipedia.
