PHOENIX — A man was arrested on Friday for making a bomb threat near the Arizona state Capitol in downtown Phoenix that was found not to be credible.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the suspect “indicated he had a bomb in his bag” around 11 a.m. in the area of 17th Avenue and Jefferson Street.
The man was then placed under arrest.
The department’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit determined the package did not contain an explosive and the scene was cleared.
The suspect was later identified as 24-year-old Pierre Rennie, who was booked on two felony charges: making a terroristic threat and misconduct involving simulated explosives.
