PHOENIX — The Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon will roll through Phoenix this weekend, closing a number of roads.

The 1-mile run begins Friday at 6 p.m on Rio Salado Parkway and takes runners across Tempe Town Lake.

On Saturday, the 5K race starts at 8 a.m., and the children’s run starts at 10 a.m.

The marathon, half-marathon and 10k will all start Sunday at 7:50 a.m and finish near Tempe Beach Park.

Valley Metro said its light rail service will not be available from Seventh Avenue and Camelback Road and Central Avenue and Camelback Road between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sunday due to the marathon.

The marathon event draws more than 25,000 runners to the Phoenix area and tens of thousands of spectators, according to the event’s website.

Runners will hear Arizona bands play live along the course, ending with a performance from the Grammy-nominated Plain White T’s later in the day at the finish line.

Rock ‘N’ Roll Arizona will also hold a Health and Fitness Expo in the Phoenix Convention Center on Friday 12-7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
