PHOENIX — Scottsdale-based Pita Jungle opened its 21st location in Arizona at Grand Canyon University on Tuesday.
The new spot offers a walk-up Mediterranean dining option with a condensed breakfast, lunch and dinner menu for the school’s more than 20,000 students and 4,000 employees.
“We look forward to providing the GCU student body and staff with healthful and delicious culinary options that answer the various dietary needs of the busy and active lifestyles on a bustling campus,” cofounder Bassel Osmani said in a press release.
There are 17 other Pita Jungle locations in the Phoenix metro area, two in Tucson and one in Flagstaff.

The GCU location is the chain’s third restaurant opened in the past two years, including a spot at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s Terminal 4.
Three Arizona State University students first opened the restaurant chain in 1994 with a location on Apache Boulevard.
Their goal was to provide Tempe residents with a healthy alternative to other restaurants around campus, according to the Pita Jungle website.
