Authorities investigating after body found on southeast Phoenix street

PHOENIX — Authorities are investigating after a body was found on a street in southeast Phoenix early Monday morning.
Sgt. Mercedes Fortune with the Phoenix Police Department said officers responded to unknown trouble in the area of 40th Street and Broadway Road around 6:30 a.m. and found a man with “obvious trauma.”
The man was pronounced dead on the scene by fire personnel, she added. The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
Broadway Road will be closed in both directions between 40th Street and 43rd Place while police investigate.
No other information, including a possible suspect, was immediately known.
