PHOENIX – Thousands of families with kids being treated at Phoenix Children’s Hospital can breathe a sigh of relief after the medical center and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona reached a deal to renew their network agreement.
In a joint statement sent to KTAR News 92.3 FM on Monday night, the hospital and insurer said the renewal was for three years.
No other details were made available.
“We look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship and serving the health care needs of Arizona families,” the statement said.
The agreement was reached more than two weeks after a Dec. 1 deadline for negotiations was extended, initially to Dec. 15 and then to Monday.
If a deal hadn’t been reached, Phoenix Children’s would no longer be a contracted provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona.
In November, the hospital notified the families of 31,000 patients that their coverage would be impacted if it was dropped from the BCBS network.
