PHOENIX — If you’re planning to select an Affordable Care Act health insurance plan for 2019, act fast — open enrollment closes Saturday.
Dec. 15 will be the last day to enroll in or change health insurance plans for 2019 coverage.
Plans selected now begin coverage on Jan. 1, as long as the first premium is paid.
If you’re unsure which plan would be best for you, organizations like Cover Arizona can help.
“You can go to CoverAZ.org and you can literally make an appointment to sit down with an assister, or you can ask questions on the chat feature also on CoverAZ, and they will be answered,” Allen Gjersvig, enrollment director at Alliance for Community Health Centers, told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Thursday.
Enrollment, which opened on Nov. 1, has reportedly been slow this year, but last year numbers surged just before the deadline.

As of Nov. 28, there were still 100,000 Arizonans who had current plans that had yet to sign up for coverage.
Many people who are covered and choose to automatically re-enroll won’t get counted until open enrollment closes.
