PHOENIX – A suburban Phoenix-based trucking company has planned to expand its presence by about 40 acres on a new campus within the next couple of years.
Roadmaster Group of Glendale, which specializes in the secure transportation of sensitive and/or hazardous hauls, will also upgrade its facilities around the country. That was projected to cost about $25 million spread over a few years, a company official confirmed Thursday.
CEO John Wilbur said in an email to KTAR News 92.3 FM, “We plan to have a significant presence in the West Valley with a new campus in late 2019 or 2020.”
That campus would consist of headquarters, driver facilities and maintenance, the Phoenix Business Journal reported, and would cost around $10 million.
Wilbur said Roadmaster wouldn’t necessarily be paying for all the improvements.
“In some cases, our landlords will be providing the upgrades via the lease negotiation process,” he said.
No decision had been made whether the campus would be a lease or a purchase, Wilbur said.
“We are evaluating both,” he added.
Roadmaster has offices near 75th Avenue and Bell Road and oversees Tri-State Motor Transit Co., the country’s oldest munitions transporter; the logistics division, Roadmaster Specialized; and AATCO, which transports small but high-security freight shipments.
