PHOENIX – Construction on the Scottsdale resort that will house Arizona’s first indoor water park took a significant step Tuesday when the final steel beam was lifted into place.
A topping out ceremony was held at the Great Wolf Lodge Arizona site to celebrate the completion of the structure’s vertical construction.
The last beam was signed by representatives of the resort, construction crew and Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community before becoming a permanent piece of the 27,000-square-foot Great Wolf Adventure Park.
The 350-suite facility is on target to open on 18 acres in the Talking Stick Entertainment District near Loop 101 and Via de Ventura in the late summer/early fall of 2019.
Plans for the Wisconsin-based chain’s first Arizona location were announced in January.
Great Wolf Lodge Arizona will feature an 85,000-square-foot indoor water park with body slides, tube slides, raft rides, activity pools and splash areas.
It will be the company’s 18th North American indoor water park resort.
The closest existing Great Wolf Lodge is in Anaheim, California.
