PHOENIX – It’s going to rain blood in Phoenix one last time.

On Monday, thrash metal titans Slayer revealed 16 new North American dates as their farewell tour keeps getting longer.

The two-time Grammy Award winners will launch the fifth leg of their global goodbye on May 2, 2019, at Ak-Chin Pavilion, with supporting acts Lamb of God, Amon Amarth and Cannibal Corpse.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, with the first of several presales starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Slayer formed in the Los Angeles area in 1981 and became pioneers of the thrash genre alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax.

The band put out their 12th and apparently final studio album, “Repentless,” in 2015, two years after the death of founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman.

They announced in 2018 that they’d be touring one last time.

The road warriors have toured every year since 1997 and have been regular visitors to Phoenix.

Their last Valley appearance was at Comerica Theatre in August 2017, which was less than a year after they played at the Arizona State Fair.

Slayer’s most recent performance at Ak-Chin Pavilion was in July 2015, when they headlined the Mayhem Festival.

We want to hear from you.
