Phoenix police investigate nighttime attack, daylight store robbery

Dec 4, 2018, 7:10 AM

PHOENIX – “This was a pretty brutal attack,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild said. It also appeared to be completely unprovoked, he said.

It happened near 35th Avenue and Buckeye Road on May 8, 2016 at about 8:30 p.m.

The suspect, who was wearing brass knuckles with blades in them, targeted a man in a Circle K parking lot.

“And as he assaulted the victim,” Rothschild said, “those blades caused serious injuries.”

Luckily, the victim survived.

The suspect, investigators have learned, is nicknamed “Solo.”

He has prominent skull bones near his temples. Investigators said that unusual feature may be the key to getting him caught.

Next, we head to the Family Dollar store at 35th and Northern avenues.

“This started as a property crime on Tuesday, on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon,” Rothschild said.

Three men entered the store and filled baskets full of merchandise.

They made no effort to pay as they took the stuff out of the store, but one of the suspects did pull a knife, which escalated this to an felony armed robbery.

One of the guys had a tattoo of an “x” on the front of his neck and was wearing a black jacket with “SECURITY” written in yellow.

Another of the men was wearing a blue Superman jacket.

They took off in a gray minivan.
