PHOENIX – For Phoenix-area theatre fans, it might be the next best thing to winning the Mega Millions jackpot.
Broadway smash “Dear Evan Hansen,” which sold out its upcoming run at ASU Gammage in record time, will hold lotteries for a limited number of tickets to each show in Tempe.
The digital lotteries will begin accepting entries 48 hours prior to each performance during the Nov. 27 to Dec. 2 run.
Winners will be selected at 9 a.m. the day before the performance. They will be notified by email and have the opportunity to buy up to two tickets for $25 each.
Entrants must be age 18 or older and have a photo ID that matches the name used for the entry.
A website set up for the lotteries has more information, as does the show’s website.
Entrants are encouraged to follow the show’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts for additional news.
“Dear Evan Hansen” was an instant hit after opening on Broadway in December 2016 and won six 2017 Tony Awards, including best musical.
There was a similar lottery for discounted tickets earlier this year for the last sold-out Broadway smash that came through Tempe, “Hamilton.”
