PHOENIX — A rest stop between Phoenix and Casa Grande reopened Wednesday following a series of renovations, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The Sacaton Rest Area on Interstate 10 north of Casa Grande received upgrades to its restrooms, water lines, septic tanks, electrical and mechanical systems and paint.
The finished project, along with an in-progress one at the Interstate 19 Canoa Ranch Rest Area in southern Arizona, will cost a total of $4.3 million.
Sacaton Rest Area is about 30 miles southeast of Phoenix near State Route 387.
Canoa Ranch Ranch Area was scheduled to close Thursday for an estimated six months of similar work, according to ADOT.
Other recent rest stop renovations include one at the Interstate 40 Haviland Rest Area, one at Interstate 8 Mohawk Rest Area that was reopened in 2017 and one at I-10 Texas Canyon and San Simon rest areas between Tucson and the New Mexico line.
