PHOENIX — A video that unknowingly recorded NHL players disparaging their team and coaching staff while traveling in an Uber through Phoenix leaked on Monday, drawing the ire of Uber Canada and the Ottawa Senators organization.
The five-minute video, leaked on YouTube and Twitter, shows several Senators players commenting on various faults of the organization, including a coach and team meetings.
It doesn’t appear in the video that any of the players were aware the conversation was being recorded, which Uber Canada General Manager Rob Khazzam said was a violation of the Uber terms of service.
Khazzam responded on Twitter on Monday, calling the filming of the conversation “unacceptable.”
The Senators were in Phoenix for a game against the Coyotes on Oct. 30.
“In this specific case, we made efforts to have the video taken down,” Khazzam said.
A video was released by the media today of several Uber passengers being filmed without their consent while having a private discussion during a trip in Phoenix. This is a clear violation of our terms of service and we worked vigorously to investigate this issue. (1/2)

The Senators, in a statement, called the video a “privacy breach.”
Three of the Senators’ top four scorers this season — Thomas Chabot, Chris Tierney and Matt Duchene — were all identified in the video.
Ottawa is in fifth place out of eight in the Atlantic Division through 14 games this season.
“Nothing is more important to us during this rebuild than making sure our players and coaches are fully committed to our plan, our values and our system of play,” the statement said. “We are now treating this as a team matter, and will be making no further comment to the media.”
