Interstate 17 in Phoenix reopens after multivehicle injury rollover

PHOENIX — A woman was seriously injured in a three-car collision on Interstate 17, the wreck causing an hourslong shutdown early Friday.
The woman had been ejected from one of the cars as it rolled across southbound lanes near Glendale Avenue and came to stop upside down in the 3:15 a.m. accident.
Authorities shut down the freeway at Northern Avenue until nearly 9:30 a.m.
Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers were investigating and said they had received reports that two of the cars had been racing.
The third car became collateral damage, struck by one of the others.
