Report: Arizona has the third-lowest number of ER visits per capita

PHOENIX — Children’s visits to the emergency room spike on Halloween.
So it’s a good thing Arizona is the state with the third-fewest visits to the ER per capita, according to a report by a health insurance comparison website.
To come up with the rankings, the report looked at ER visits per capita from 2012 to 2016.
In 2016, Arizona saw only 303 ER visits per 1,000 people, while Washington, D.C., ranked the highest for ER visits, saw 699.
Nevada and Hawaii were the only states with fewer ER visits than Arizona.
West Virginia and Mississippi came in at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, for the most visits.
