PHOENIX — Arizona Lottery officials said a winning ticket for the $1 million Powerball and another for $50,000 were sold in Surprise on Wednesday.
The newest millionaire was the third in Arizona in the past few weeks. The winner matched all five numbers — 3, 21, 45, 53, 56, but not the Powerball, 22.
The Powerball will roll over to $750 million for Saturday’s draw.
At the other end of the Valley, someone bought a Mega Millions ticket at a Chandler convenience store for Tuesday’s enormous drawing and won $1 million.
Last week, a Powerball winner from Congress, Arizona had the right to claim $1 million.
None of that comes close to this week’s Mega Millions winner. The $1.537 billion extremely golden ticket was sold in South Carolina.
The lottery craze has generated more than $75 million in sales in Arizona since July 25, Arizona Lottery reported.
That person beat the odds of 1 in 302,575,350 to win.
