The Phoenix Police Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for a suspect accused of robbing an elderly woman at a Fry’s in Phoenix last month.
Phoenix police Det. Mike Fischer said the woman was waiting to pay for her gas around 9 a.m. on Sept. 24 when a woman came up behind her, grabbed her wallet and took off.
However, the elderly woman was not hurt. The alleged robbery occurred at the Fry’s at Cave Creek and Hatcher roads.
Fischer is also asking the public to be on the lookout for a suspected serial robber who is accused of targeting Walgreens stores around the Valley.
“He acts like a regular customer, picking items from the shelves,” he said.
“He goes to the counter like he’s going to pay for the items but, as soon as the register opens, he reaches over and grabs the money.”
The suspect, so far, has targeted locations at 27th and Glendale avenues, 43rd and Glendale avenues and 35th and Dunlap avenues between August and September.
Fischer said it is possible he could have robbed other stores as well.
