PHOENIX — Three people died and two others were seriously injured in a rollover crash in Phoenix early Thursday, first responders said.
Phoenix Fire Department Capt. Rob McDade said in an email that the single-car accident was near 25th Avenue and Bell Road.
When a fire crew reached the scene shortly after 1 a.m., they found five adults trapped inside the car.
Two men were pronounced dead at the accident site. Another man and two women, in critical condition, were taken to a trauma center where one of the women died.
The victims were later identified as 18-year-old Bailey Weldon, 27-year-old Joshua Krueger and 19-year-old Danielle Bowden.
Phoenix police shut down Bell Road in both directions from 23rd Avenue to Interstate 17. The road remained closed until around 7:30 a.m.
Sgt. Armando Carbajal said the car veered off the road and hit a light pole.
An investigation was ongoing.
