PHOENIX — A pizza chain that arrived in Phoenix to much cheering will be leaving after less than two years.
The Phoenix Business Journal reported Tuesday that Gino’s East at 36th Street and Indian School Road was shutting down Oct. 28.
The news reports said the deep-dish restaurateur, based in Chicago, didn’t respond to questions about the reason for the closure.
The Arcadia neighborhood site is the only Gino’s East in Arizona.
The publication also reported that a new concept from Phoenix-based hospitality group Barter & Shake would move in to the location.
The pizzeria opened in Phoenix in April 2017 and was one in a spate of Chicago eateries that had rushed to the Valley over past few years.
Popular pizza makers Lou Malnati’s and Giordano’s opened local spots in 2016 and Portillo’s hot dogs had been here since 2013.
