PHOENIX — On Oct. 20, the Arizona Professional Towing and Recovery Association will be celebrating National Move Over Day with a parade from Tempe to Tolleson.
A line of more than 100 tow trucks will be involved in the parade, which stretches more than 23 miles long through the Loop 202 and Interstate 10, beginning at 7 a.m.
The purpose of the event is to draw attention to an alarming average of 60 towers who suffer roadside deaths per year, a higher average than any type of responder, according to the association.
After the conclusion of the parade at Rush Truck Center, an awards banquet and silent auction will take place beginning at 6:30 p.m.
They are also hosting a toy drive, truck beauty competition, 50/50 raffle, tire change competition, golf cart driving competition, various food trucks and other free giveaways.
This will be the second annual event. Responders from ADOT, FHWA, Emergency Management, fire departments and police departments will be involved with the parade.
