PHOENIX — Looking for vegan and vegetarian options in the Valley might be easier than most metropolitan areas.

According to a study by WalletHub.com, Scottsdale and Phoenix rank as top 15 cities for vegans and vegetarians out of the country’s 100 largest cities.

Scottsdale ranked eighth overall with the third highest score in the ‘Vegetarian Lifestyle’ category and the top overall city in terms of percentage of restaurants serving vegetarian options.

Phoenix wasn’t too far behind coming in at No. 14 overall with the No. 11 score in the ‘Vegetarian Lifestyle’ category.

Out of the seven cities in Arizona, none finished worse than Tucson at No. 60. The southern Arizona city finished as the fourth highest in terms of vegetable nurseries per capita, however.

Glendale finished No. 43, Mesa No. 50, Gilbert No. 51 and Chandler No. 52 to round out the overall ranks across the state.

The No. 1 overall rank went to New York City, ditching the stigma attached to the famous New York Strip Steak. Philadelphia, known for its cheese steak sandwiches, finished No. 44.

Baton Rouge, La. finished in last.
