PHOENIX — Get your favorite beer steins polished up and your Lederhosen ready: Friday marks the 46th running of Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake.
Sponsored by Four Peaks Brewing Company, Oktoberfest will bring the feel of Germany — and massive amounts of beer — to the Valley.
The festival will be in full effect Friday through Sunday, with more than 20 bands and numerous events, including a soccer tournament hosted by Phoenix Rising, the Das Frank Kush Run, dachshund races and a kickball tournament scattered throughout the weekend.
In addition, festival goers can enjoy a carnival and a Bavarian beer garden with more than 25 varieties of beer.
But it wouldn’t be a true Oktoberfest without German-inspired food.
Brats and sauerkraut are just a few items on the menu.
The best part? Admission is free for all ages, with a portion of the proceeds from the food, beer and carnival sales benefiting Tempe Sister Cities.
Friday’s festivities kick off at 5 p.m. and end at midnight. Saturday’s hours are 10 a.m.- midnight, and Sunday’s are 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
