PHOENIX – Money has been pouring in to back Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Arizona) in her run for Senate, according to a national political website.
The Hill reported Tuesday that Sinema took in $7 million in the third quarter, more than doubling her second-quarter numbers.
The total included donations to her campaign and the Sinema Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee.
“With ballots hitting kitchen tables on Wednesday, the enthusiasm and depth of support for Kyrsten has her gaining momentum at exactly the right time,” Andrew Piatt, Sinema’s campaign manager, wrote in a memo obtained by The Hill.
The July-September fundraising numbers of Sinema’s opponent, Republican Rep. Martha McSally, haven’t been released.
McSally took in $3.3 million during the second quarter, slightly more than Sinema’s haul of $3 million for the April-June period.
The latest poll on the race to succeed Republican Sen. Jeff Flake, who didn’t seek re-election, showed McSally leading 47 percent to 41 percent.
The candidates will face off in a televised debate in Phoenix on Monday.
