UK minister apologizes for expenses embarrassment

LONDON (AP) – A British Cabinet minister has apologized for causing the government embarrassment by taking her business partner on an official trip to Pakistan.
Sayeeda Warsi said Monday she should have declared that she and Abid Hussain had “a common business interest as minority shareholders in a small food company.”
Warsi has been under pressure over her expenses. She apologized last week for not properly declaring rental income on a London property.
Prime Minister David Cameron announced an investigation into whether Warsi, co-chair of the Conservative Party, had broken ministerial guidelines.
Several British politicians have been jailed for fraud after leaked documents revealed lawmakers from all parties had overcharged for accommodation and billed the public for items including an ornamental duck house and pornographic movies.
