PHOENIX — A high school in southeastern Arizona was evacuated on Thursday due to a bomb threat.

Tombstone High School said in a post on its Facebook page that all of its students were evacuated to the nearby Walter J. Meyer School.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, which responded to the threat, said parents can now pick up students at the school.

Law enforcement officials are at the school to “assess the situation and conduct a sweep of the school for any suspicious items.”

An earlier tweet from Cochise County officials said the school was on lockdown due to the threat.

The evacuation was announced around 12:40 p.m.

The school was declared safe and reopened around 2:20 p.m.

The school is located off the U.S. 80 in Tombstone.

School officials declined to provide more information.

District officials did not respond to a request for comment.
