KINSHASA, Congo (AP) – Congo’s president has appointed the nation’s finance minister as prime minister.
President Joseph Kabila announced late Wednesday that Augustin Matata Ponyo would be the new prime minister. The new prime minister’s first task will be presenting the nation’s budget.
Congo’s election last year was only the second since the country’s civil war, and the first to be organized entirely by the country itself rather than by the United Nations.
