PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation announced that there will be lane restrictions for Interstates 17 this weekend.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time when traveling and consider possible detours. Here are the restrictions that will impact Valley freeways in the coming days:
• I-17 is closed intermittently going both directions between Thomas and Indian School roads from 9 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday. ADOT announced that individual closures could last up to 20 minutes. Both I-10 ramps to northbound I-17 at the “Stack” interchange will be closed during work hours. The I-17 southbound frontage road between Indian School and Thomas roads will also be closed. The I-17 northbound frontage road in the area will briefly be closed as needed. Alternate routes include State Route 51 and the Loop 101. Ramps on I-17 southbound getting on at Indian School Road, I-17 northbound getting on at McDowell and Thomas roads, I-10 eastbound getting off at 27th Avenue and I-10 westbound getting on at Seventh Avenue will all be closed during work hours.
• I-17 will also be closed intermittently in both directions near New River Road in Anthem overnight from 10 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday for construction work. Closures are expected to last up to 20 minutes. Expect traffic stops as needed getting on at the I-17 northbound ramp at Anthem Way and the southbound on-ramp at New River Road.
Several others restrictions that had been planned for Interstate 10 in west Phoenix were postponed.
All restrictions on Arizona highways are posted on ADOT’s website.
