State lawmaker dies after shooting in Venezuela

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) – Venezuelan state radio says a state legislator has died after being shot in an apparent robbery.
Radio Nacional de Venezuela says Juan Carlos Figarella died on Wednesday. He was a member of President Hugo Chavez’s ruling party.
Figarella had been in intensive therapy since Monday, when he was shot twice during what investigators believe was an attempted robbery.
Police have not arrested any suspects.
Violent crime is widespread throughout Venezuela, which has one of the highest murder rates in Latin America.
