MEXICO CITY (AP) – Alba Mora Roca, an international multimedia and documentary producer from Catalonia, Spain, has been named to the newly created position of interactive producer for the Spanish Service of The Associated Press.

Mora, 31, has directed three documentaries broadcast on Spanish and Catalonian television. Her film “Guests of Space” examined the Nukak Maku people of Colombia and their contact with the modern world. “Je Ne Suis Pas Moi Meme” (“I Am Not Myself”) explored African antiquities trafficking in Cameroon. And “Memories Without Rememberers” reported on the Lanjia Sora tribe’s loss of its shamanic rituals following the arrival of Christian missionaries in India.

Mora was associate producer on “Times of Crisis,” a Mediastorm-Reuters multimedia collaboration about the 2008 financial crisis that won best documentary project at the Pictures of the Year International Competition in 2010. She also won the 2010 Silver Palm award at the Mexico International Film Festival for her feature documentary “A Mexican Toy Story.”

She received her bachelor of arts in audio-visual communications from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, and a master’s of journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism.

“We are excited to add an interactive producer to our Spanish Service and to bring Alba’s talent to the new job,” said Latin America Regional Editor Marjorie Miller.

Mora will be based in Mexico City.
