PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) – North Korea says the United States is overreacting to Pyongyang’s rocket launch plan by breaking their recent nuclear agreement.
Washington said this week that plans to provide food aid to Pyongyang are on hold because of a lack of confidence about proper distribution.
A North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Saturday that the U.S. move would be a violation of their agreement in February. The U.S. said then it would send 240,000 tons of food while North Korea said it would freeze its nuclear activities.
Washington considers the planned North Korea launch to be a violation of that agreement, saying Pyongyang is seeking to test long-range missile technology with a rocket. North Korea says it is sending a satellite into orbit for peaceful purposes.
