PHOENIX – A majority of Arizona’s voters aren’t happy about the job President Donald Trump is doing, and it could hurt the state’s Republican congressional candidates in the upcoming election, according to a new poll.
An NBC News/Marist poll released Tuesday found that 51 percent of likely Arizona voters disapproved of Trump’s performance, while 44 percent approved it.
When including all Arizona adults, 50 percent disapproved of Trump and 39 percent approved.
Forty-seven percent of likely Arizona voters said their preferred outcome of the Nov. 6 general election was a Congress controlled by Democrats, while 44 percent favored a Republican-controlled Congress.
When asked what kind of message they wanted to send with their votes, 52 percent said it was for more Democrats to be a check and balance to Trump, while 38 percent said it was for more Republicans to pass Trump’s agenda.
The landline and cellphone survey of 950 adults was conducted Sept. 16-20. Of those who responded, 763 were registered voters and 564 were likely voters.
The overall margin of error was plus or minus 3.7 percent, and it was 4.7 percent for likely voters.
