BRUSSELS (AP) – A Belgian man who attacked his former girlfriend with sulfuric acid has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for attempted murder.
A jury in Brussels convicted 57-year-old Richard Remes and he was then given the maximum sentence Thursday for the 2009 attack, which left his victim with a badly deformed face that required dozens of operations.
The attack left Patricia Lefranc in a coma for three months. Lefranc called the ruling a relief.
