PHOENIX — West Valley motorists will have to find alternate routes because of two highway closures — on Interstate 10 and Loop 303 — this weekend.
Eastbound I-10 between 75th and 51st avenues will be shut down from 9 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Sunday, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
The closure will accomodate construction related to the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway project, including sign installation and bridge work.
McDowell Road and Van Buren Street were recommended for detours, although heavy delays were anticipated.
Meanwhile, a 15-mile stretch of Loop 303 will be closed in both directions from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday for asphalt sealing.
The closure will span between I-10 and Happy Valley Parkway.
Crews planned to reopen sections of the Loop 303 as the work progressed Saturday.
Travelers in the area should use city streets or Loop 101 as alternate routes.
