6-year-old hospitalized after wounded in Phoenix shooting, police say

PHOENIX — A 6-year-old girl remained hospitalized early Thursday morning after she was wounded in a shooting in Phoenix the night before.
Sgt. Armando Carbajal with the Phoenix Police Department told KTAR News 92.3 FM that the girl, who was not identified, was struck in a shooting that allegedly took place between two groups of people. She suffered a non-life threatening injury.
The suspect, who also was not identified, allegedly fired a gun at the car that the girl was riding in and struck her, Carbajal said.
Police were called to treat the girl in the area of 67th Avenue and Thomas Road around 10:45 p.m. Carbajal said the shooting took place at a different location, but did not specify where or when.
