Bodies of 2 reporters have left Syria for Paris

WARSAW, Poland (AP) – The Polish Foreign Ministry says the bodies of two foreign journalists recently killed in shelling while trapped in the besieged central Syrian city of Homs have left Syria on board a French plane to Paris.

The Foreign Ministry in Warsaw said the bodies of American Marie Colvin, a veteran correspondent for Britain’s Sunday Times, and Fench photographer Remi Ochlik left Syria late Saturday.

Poland represents U.S. interests in Syria and has been working for several days to bring the body of Colvin out of the violence-ridden country.

No other details were given.

Both journalists had sneaked into Syria illegally to try to get an eyewitness view of the government crackdown in the country. They died on Feb. 22 in shelling by government forces of a besieged district in Homs.
