PHOENIX — Drivers in the West Valley might notice more traffic than usual on Wednesday, but it won’t be due to an Arizona Cardinals or an Arizona Coyotes game.
The Arizona Department of Transportation was warning drivers to be aware of heavier-than-usual freeway traffic, as music legend Beyonce and her husband and rapper Jay-Z will bring their “On The Run II” tour to the State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
The show was expected to kick off at 7:30 p.m., but drivers could see heavy traffic as early as 4:30 p.m., when the parking lots to the stadium were expected to open. The stadium itself will open a little later, by 6 p.m.
If you are driving in the area, allow yourself extra travel time and consider starting earlier in the afternoon. Alternate routes to the Interstate 10 include taking Loop 101 west and south from Interstate 17 in the north Valley.

Traffic alerts can be followed on the freeway message signs, ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information website and ADOT’s Twitter feed.
But if you don’t want to be “On The Run” from the concert, tickets are still available through Ticketmaster. They will cost anywhere from $45 to $1,000.
The department was already preparing for the concert early Wednesday: Freeway signs were changed to reflect some of the couple’s greatest hits, including their 2003 classic “Crazy In Love.”
