PHOENIX — After being closed for more than a month because of monsoon storm damage, Talking Stick Resort is reopening its doors next week.
The Scottsdale resort and casino announced Monday that it would open Sept. 24.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience during this time, as we made the decision early on to only reopen the property after ensuring quality work was completed, verified and authorized by qualified agencies,” the resort said in a statement on its website.
In addition to the hotel being closed to visitors, many concerts and other events had to be rescheduled or canceled.

The resort’s fall concert series will debut with a show featuring ’80s performers Boy George and Culture Club, the B-52s and Thomas Bailey of the Thompson Twins.
Visit Talking Stick’s website for a list of rescheduled and new events as well as information on promotions and specials.
Monday’s announcement was a bit of a surprise because on Sept. 7 it was announced that the resort would stay closed throughout the month. At the time, the facility said it was taking the opportunity to remodel areas that have been unchanged since its 2010 opening.
A monsoon storm caused a power outage and forced the evacuation of almost 900 people on the morning of Aug. 11.
The resort has remained closed since. It was initially set to reopen Aug. 19, but two days before that date the venue announced it would stay closed indefinitely.
