PHOENIX – Authorities in northern Arizona said the bodies of four men killed in a fiery ATV crash have been recovered.
Coconino County sheriff’s officials said a 10-acre fire and rugged terrain made it difficult for rescuers to get to the site of Saturday’s crash.
Sheriff’s spokesman Jon Paxton said four people riding on one ATV had been reported overdue.
The victims were later identified as 37-year-old Reymond V. Martinez from Phoenix, 38-year-old Enrique Lopez from Phoenix, 17-year-old Abraham Javier Rodriquez Delgado from Chandler and 36-year-old Manuel Ladislao Bracamonte from Glendale.
Deputies said tracks indicate an ATV went off a Forest Service road and plunged 400 feet down a cliff.
Paxton said investigators don’t know why the vehicle veered off the road.
Authorities said all four men were from the Phoenix area and were on a camping trip in the Payson area.
Forest Service Road 300 was closed for 3 miles in each direction earlier Monday as recovery workers tried to find the bodies.
