PHOENIX — A piano bar and an escape room are slated to open in the Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale before the end of the year.
Low Key Piano Bar, a dueling-piano venue and restaurant, will occupy 9,200 square feet on the upper retail level. It is planned to open in early November.
Escape Westgate, a movie-themed escape room, will open in early December.
“I think Westgate’s got a compelling entertainment lineup right now and we’re happy to add two more elements to it to continue to build on that,” Jeff Teetsel, development partner at Westgate, told KTAR News 92.3 FM this week.
Another Low Key location on Mill Avenue in Tempe has been open since 2015.
Its success was a factor in bringing a second location to Glendale, Teetsel said.
“Their business has been doing very well. They’ve got a very strong fan following there and we’ve got a great venue for them, and so we’re happy to add the live music component to all the other entertainment options we have at Westgate,” he said.
Escape Westgate will take up 2,700 square feet and feature three different escape experiences based on the movies “Terminator 2: Judgement Day,” “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and “The Mummy.”
“I think people crave experiences, things to do with their friends or family or as couples,” Teetsel said.
Two new restaurants, The Lola and the State 48 Funk House Brewery, will also open at Westgate later this year.
