President Donald Trump faces all sorts of potential legal challenges, but just how serious jeopardy is he in from a legal perspective? We need some legal advice.
Paul Charlton was appointed by President George W. Bush and served as U.S. Attorney for Arizona. In effect, he was the legal representative of the United States government for most matters within the state of Arizona.
We ask Chalton a wide range of questions relevant to the president’s various legal entanglements including:
• Can a president be indicted? Is this settled law?
• What happens if the special prosecutor subpoena’s the president to give a deposition? What is likely to happen?
• Would a Trump-appointed justice have to recuse himself from any decisions regarding the president?
• What is the legal and practical significance of the Manafort conviction and the Cohen guilty plea?
• What, exactly, is obstruction of justice?
