PHOENIX — Recruit Military will hold a veterans job fair on Thursday, aiming to connect current and former veterans with potential employers.
“Veteran unemployment is the lowest we’ve ever seen it,” Adam O’Toole, director of military relations at Recruit Military, told KTAR News 92.3 FM. “but we do know that a lot of candidates are either underemployed or want to see what else is out there.”
O’Toole said companies are competing to hire veteran talent due to the low unemployment rate, meaning veterans may be able to find opportunities to not only just get a job, but maybe move up into a better position.
Seventy employers are expected to attend, including the Phoenix Police Department, Frito-Lay and the Department of Veteran Affairs, O’Toole said. Some employers may interview and hire applicants directly at the event.
O’Toole said he recommends that participants “dress to impress,” prepare resumes and elevator pitches for interviews, and research participating companies and their job boards before attending the fair.

The job fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the State Farm Stadium (formerly University of Phoenix Stadium) in Glendale.
“This is the perfect time for anyone who has ever had military service to get out and meet with these employers who are interested in employing them,” O’Toole said.
