Memorial events around the Valley to commemorate 9/11

PHOENIX — Different events around the Valley will be open to the public to commemorate Sept. 11.
The 15th annual Tempe Healing Field, which was unveiled Saturday, showcases 3,000 flags to represent the 3,000 people who lost their lives on 9/11.
It is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Tuesday at Tempe Beach Park.
On Monday, there will be a Freedom Concert beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Then, on the 17th anniversary of 9/11 on Tuesday, there will be a memorial service beginning at 5:46 a.m. and then a candlelight vigil at 7 p.m.
In Gilbert, the Fire and Rescue and Police Departments will hold a memorial beginning 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Gilbert Town Hall.
A pipe and drum band and the Campo Verde High School band will play music and local public officials will speak. A lighted memorial in the sky will be visible from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
In Glendale, a memorial allows participants to climb 2,071 steps in honor of the number of steps taken by first responders.
The Fighter Country Foundation will host the event at Gila River Arena beginning Tuesday at 8 a.m. and going until 10:30 a.m.
Luke Air Force Base in Glendale will host a ceremony Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m., the time when the first plane struck the North Tower of the Twin Towers.
During the ceremony, speakers and emergency responders will share personal experiences of the day.
