PHOENIX — A documentary called “The Care They’ve Earned” follows a group of veterans seeking adequate health care after the Department of Veterans Affairs scandal in 2014.
Kyle Buckles, the press secretary for Concerned Veterans for America, said the documentary is very moving.
“It’s a gripping story. Six veterans’ experiences with the VA,” Buckles said.
Buckles told KTAR News 92.3 FM the documentary includes one veteran from Phoenix who suffered because of the wait-time scandal at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Hospital.
“One of the subjects of the documentary, Steve Cooper, his story starts right there in Phoenix and he’ll be attending the event tonight,” Buckles said.
Buckles said the film details some of the pain and agony that those who fought for our nation have had to endure just to get medical treatment.
“From botched surgeries to misdiagnoses to overprescribing medications, it goes through their experiences,” Buckles said.
The documentary is playing Wednesday at the AMC Esplanade in East Phoenix from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
