PHOENIX — Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria will open its extra-large Scottsdale location on Sept. 11, the Chicago-based chain announced Tuesday.
The new location covers 10,000 square feet and has 300 seats, with a full bar, two private-event areas and spacious outdoor seating with room for up to 120 people.
It will initially be open only for dinner, opening at 4 p.m. Lunch service was scheduled to begin Sept. 24.
The restaurant will hold a soft opening on Sept. 9 for randomly selected winners of an online contest, which can be entered here. Entries must be made by Aug. 28.
The new restaurant, at 17787 N. Scottsdale Road, south of the Loop 101, will the the largest of chain’s three Valley locations.
The first opened in 2016 on Camelback Road near Central Avenue. The second, which only offers carryout, delivery and catering, debuted last September at Indian School Road and 56th Street.
According to a news release, the Scottsdale design was inspired by the desert and includes nods to the restaurant’s Chicago heritage.
The company plans to open five to seven more locations in the Phoenix area, the release said.
Lou Malnati’s has been a Chicago staple since 1971, with 52 locations in and around that city.
