PHOENIX — The Phoenix-Mesa Gateway International Airport has recorded three straight months of record-breaking passenger growth, it was announced this week.
Airport spokesman Ryan Smith said May, June and July were all record-setting months, with double-digit increases in year-over-year passenger growth.
“It was the best May, June and July in the history of the airport,” he said.
“More and more travelers are coming every month. That trend will continue through the rest of the year.”
Smith said the growth can be attributed to two main reasons: The increased number of destinations that fly out of the airport and the number of people who are finding it easier and more affordable to fly from Mesa Gateway.
“The routes across the board have been very successful,” he added. There are 46 total destinations out of the airport, with 11 added in the past year alone.
“We are very excited and looking forward to adding more destinations in the next couple of months.”
