PHOENIX — All eastbound lanes of U.S. 60 in Mesa were blocked temporarily Thursday afternoon by a wreck involving a semi truck, causing major backups on a key route through the East Valley.
Traffic could get by only on the right shoulder east of Country Club Drive while emergency responders attended to the scene.
The accident occurred around 1:20 p.m., and the lanes weren’t cleared until around 2 p.m.
Motorists were told to expect long delays. Eastbound traffic was backed up all the way to the Loop 101 Price Freeway. The 101 northbound traffic approaching the 60 also was backed up.
The Loop 202 Red Mountain or Santan freeways were recommended as alternate routes through the East Valley.
All lanes are open now. Backup: L-101. https://t.co/8RN7OYcB3r
