This week’s guest, Frederick Clarkson, has been writing about politics and religion for more than three decades.

He is the author of Eternal Hostility:  The Struggle Between Theocracy and Democracy.

Clarkson has written that the assertion that the U.S. founded as a Christian nation is a myth.

What is his evidence of this?

He further argues that this belief system is part of a movement of Christian Nationalism, the “Religious Right,” that has several tenets that distinguish it from traditional Christianity.

Among these is an explicit commitment to achieve their ends through political means.

And he provides evidence of the political sophistication of this movement and an ambitious plan of political action.

Despite President Donald Trump’s well-known moral lapses, this group is a key element of the Trump governing coalition.

We discuss the objectives of Christian Nationalists, the means they have employed, and how they have ensconced themselves in the highest echelons of political power in America.

The Think Tank airs on KTAR News 92.3 FM on Sunday from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. and repeats 9 p.m.-10 p.m.

Podcasts are available after each show is broadcast.
